About our farm

Welcome to Silmaril Farm. We are a small family run farm that offers an assortment of farm fresh products throughout the year. Owned and operated by Michelle and Rick Stopps, the farm welcomes visitors throughout the year for farm tours and our pick your own season. Our farm is now associated with the new Grimsby Farmers' Market (member of Farmers' Markets Ontario) and we are members of HomeGrown Ontario. Aside from fruit, we grow our own chicken, turkey and lamb all of which are grown on the farm, processed under provincial standards at provincially licensed abittoirs and sold farm gate as well as at the market.

Fleece and FibreFest is held on the last Sunday of May from 10 until 5. We invite you and your family to our unique gathering of regional fibre producers and artisans. Our event will showcase shearing demonstrations, which will be complemented by spinning and weaving exhibits. An interesting variety of fibre producing animals on display includes alpacas, angora goats (mohair) cashmere goats, angora rabbits and fine fleece sheep. In the late summer and into the fall, our focus is on the many fresh fruits available.

In 2008 we will offer pick your own raspberries as well as our pears and apples. Check the website at www.silmarilfarm.ca or call us at 905-945-7963 for season and availability. Bring the family and spend some time stocking up on fresh apples and pears at a fraction of the store bought prices. In October, plan on attending our open house running throughtout the Thanksgiving weekend.

Silmaril Farm is also the home of Silmaril Kennels. The kennel has been raising purebred Golden Retrievers for over 20 years. For more information about our dogs, visit the kennel’s website at www.silmaril.on.ca.

We look forward to seeing you this season!
